El Morro

Castillo San Felipe del Morro, commonly know as, El Morro was built to protect San Juan from invading pirates and other nations attempting to overtake the land. The construction of the fort took more than 2 decades. They used local materials and constructed a strong, fortified structure to withstand any invasion. Within the fort they built the first lighthouse in Puerto Rico. The lighthouse guards the San Juan bay.
