Caribbean culture is a fusion of influences from Spanish conquistadors, Taino and other indigenous peoples, and Africans who were brought as slaves to work on plantations. The influence of each group varies by region or island, with larger islands typically exhibiting a stronger African presence. Music plays a vital role in the culture, serving as a means to express both joy and sorrow. The African beat, Spanish guitar, and indigenous rhythms shape the cultural identity and help trace racial heritage. Each group contributes its own distinct flavor, traditions, customs, and beliefs, resulting in a unique blend. Like a rainbow, we come in many colors.
